Oregon NOW has exciting news to share with you: we have hired a new Executive Director, Corinne Fletcher, and we are so excited for you to meet her!
Corinne joins Oregon NOW with a background in community organizing, environmental ethics, restorative justice, and farming. Corinne wants people most impacted by decisions to be at the center of the decision-making process, and she is committed to addressing power inequities by centering the needs and visions of people who have been marginalized. Corinne’s fire comes from organizing for self-determination and collective power. She is graduating Lewis & Clark Law School in May 2018 with a degree in environmental and criminal justice law.
Corinne comes with a wealth of experience in advocacy, organizing, legislation drafting, and lobbying. She was the 2018 Coordinator for the Oregon Women’s Campaign School. During the 2017 legislative session, Corinne was the ACLU of Oregon legal intern, having spent the previous summer with the ACLU of Oregon as the Lezak Social Justice Fellow. She’s also been a volunteer in adult and youth prisons for over 5 years.
Originally from Roseburg, Corinne lives in Portland with her partner, Brandon, and their cutest-cat-in-the-whole-entire-universe, Zora. If you’ll be at our annual meeting & conference this weekend, you’ll be able to meet her in person, because Corinne will be there too! If you haven’t already registered, here’s one more reason for you to attend. (More information below.)
Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Corinne! She’s looking forward to connecting with NOW chapters and members from around the state, and you’ll be hearing directly from her soon.
In solidarity,
Lisa Frack

I have known Corinne since she was a girl, still in High School. Her compassion for the the most vulnerable members of society, has amazed me. Her commitment and actions to bring about change to an ineffective and unjust prison system while continuing her education, has been unbelievable! She has organized and marched with the Native People opposing another unreliable oil pipeline, bringing awareness and support to our small hometown, regularly visited with prison inmates who have received unjustly long sentences, campaigned and fought for political issues and persons she believed would bring positive social change, and mingled with cultures around the world, broadening her knowledge of the varied Governmental systems and their effectiveness in producing a healthy and productive society. I am hard pressed to name a more capable, dedicated, intelligent, and humane young woman.
The equality, freedoms, and concerns of women, the heart of the family, in turn, the soul of society, has been one of Corinne’s primary concerns, especially since the institution of our current governing body. I expect she will bring her seemingly endless energy to NOW with all the grace, intelligence, devotion, and abilities she possesses.
We all hope to leave the world a bit better than it was when we entered. I have no doubt that Corinne is one of the elite few who will be the catalyst for meaningful, positive change in the lives of those for whom she fights, and, by example, all those who enter her world.
As a leader, you can expect to be charmed and inspired. You’ve definitely made a great choice!
